Along with the highly story-driven indie adventure To The Moon, Bent Spoon Games launch an experimental interactive narrative called Girl With a Heart of on PC, Mac, iOS and Android
platforms.
The game follow the story of Raven, a young girl whose subterranean city of Underfoot has been attacked by a neighbouring army. Separated from her parents, Raven learns that "the artificial heart beating in her chest is imbued with a power that can help save her people, if only she can learn to use it. Now she needs to gain a better understanding of her role and the possible impacts her choices will have — and she must choose the right path, while there's still time to make a difference."
Although the description sounded more like cliche in nowadays standard, Girl With A Heart Of is nonetheless unique, compelling and enriching. It wrenches players out of their comfort zone and abandon the them agonizingly into the unknown. It challenges the most keen player to consider each word, the implications of each action and how a young girl can affect, not just the world, but the fates and emotions of everyone she meets.
The game is potentially polarising however, as the most patient of players might likely find the gameplay rewarding for a reasonable price point, while others may ended up hating the game altogether for the art style and other elements.
Girl with a Heart of is available for PC and Mac directly from the developer's website for $5.99, or the App Store for $2.99.
